How do I keep the battery healthy?

Five rules from the manual: don't let the charge drop below 20%, never charge below 0 °C (32 °F), use only the original charger, disconnect the battery from the vehicle if it won't be used for more than a week, and give it a full charge at least every three months. Store and use it within the recommended temperature and humidity range.
Can I charge it when it's freezing outside?

No. Charging below 0 °C (32 °F) is strictly forbidden for safety reasons. Move the vehicle somewhere warmer and let the pack come up to temperature before you plug it in.
Can I use a different charger?
Charging & Battery
Only the original charger designed for this lithium pack. Never reverse polarity when connecting and never short the terminals. A non-approved charger also counts as a non-NIU part, which puts any resulting damage outside the warranty.
The pack is hot, noisy or smells odd. What now?
Charging & Battery
Stop using it immediately if you notice abnormal noise, excessive heat, a peculiar smell or any leakage. Don't touch the pack until it has cooled down completely, keep it away from water and children, and call your dealer. Never incinerate, crush, puncture or open a battery.
How do I start and drive it?

Everyone seated and secured, then insert the key and turn the main switch to ON. With the parking brake engaged, shift the drive selector to D or R, make sure your path is clear, and press the accelerator slowly — the parking brake releases automatically as you pull away.
What do the buttons on the key fob do?

Unlock, lock, search (to find the vehicle) and a fourth button that powers the GT on when you double-click it. Never touch or adjust the ignition key while the vehicle is moving — wait until it has come to a complete stop.
How do I know the brakes are still right?
Driving & Safety
The pedal should feel firm, return on its own and never touch the floor when fully pressed. The vehicle must come to a complete stop within 14 feet (4.3 m). If the braking distance is longer than that, the brake system needs adjusting immediately.
Anything I should know about hills?

Take downhill slopes seriously. The electromagnetic brake helps control speed, but on steep grades apply the foot brake at the same time and move forward slowly. And never shift the drive selector to N while moving — that cuts power to the motor and you lose drive.
When do the tires need replacing?

When tread depth is worn down to 1 mm (0.04 in) — or sooner if you find damage, cracks or embedded objects. Check pressure and surface condition before every use.
How many people can ride, and can I take it on the road?

One passenger per seat, everyone seated with their whole body inside the vehicle, and don't start until they are. Public streets, roads and highways are off limits unless local law or the responsible authority specifically permits it — the rules vary by community, so ask your dealer what applies where you live.
What should I check before each ride?

Battery secured and terminals free of corrosion; tire pressure, tread and surface; body and chassis for damage; the drive selector shifting cleanly into D, R and N; brake and accelerator pedals; the parking brake locking and releasing; the reverse buzzer sounding; and the steering for excessive free play. Remove the key and engage the parking brake before you inspect anything.
How should I store it over winter?

Main switch off, key removed and kept somewhere safe. Set tire pressure to 20 psi so the tires don't flat-spot, clean the exterior thoroughly so dirt can't cause corrosion, and park it in a dry, well-ventilated indoor space under a breathable cover, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Recharge the battery every three months and lubricate the chassis and moving parts every six.
Can I do the maintenance myself?

The daily and monthly checks are meant for you. Anything beyond that — the six-month, annual and two-year service items — belongs with an authorized dealer or a qualified technician. Skipping required maintenance is one of the conditions that voids the warranty, so keep the records either way. The full schedule is on the warranty and service page.
Where can I buy a NIUGT?

Through an authorized NIU Golf Cart dealer. They handle the sale, the pre-delivery inspection, the handover and any service afterwards. Find your nearest dealer.
What should I check when it's delivered?

Every vehicle is inspected and adjusted before delivery, but transit can loosen things. Go over the pre-operation checklist with your dealer at handover and tell them straight away if anything looks off.
Can I order parts and accessories directly?
Buying & Delivery
Genuine parts and accessories go through the dealer network, so fitting instructions and the 12-month parts warranty stay attached to the part. Non-NIU approved parts and accessories are excluded from the vehicle warranty and can void it if they contribute to a failure.
